Goals & Projects

  • Promoting Childress Business

    One of our primary goals is to promote the businesses of our members and of all Childress businesses.  We shop and advertise locally.  We strive to arrange to have speakers that present programs that inform and educate our members and guests about things going on in Childress.  We are so proud to be able to select the Business Woman of the Year for the Childress Chamber of Commerce annual awards banquet.  We use a Childress business to design and print our Hometown Christmas shirts each year which celebrate our wonderful town.

  • Helping To Beautify Childress

    Childress Women's Council provides the upkeep and maintenance for Gazebo Park in downtown Childress.  We also host the Garden Tour and Tour of Homes each year.  Additionally, we give Beautiful Yard Awards to beautiful yards all over town throughout the spring and summer.

  • One of our favorite things

    Each year we have the honor of selecting a female graduating senior from Childress High School to receive a scholarship.  This is not an easy job as there are so many deserving applicants.  It is, however, a favorite committee for members to serve on.

In 2008 we've already accomplished a lot and still have many exciting things coming up.  We are enjoying getting to know all of our new members and are still adding new ones.  The monthly member spotlights have been a great way to learn more about the ladies in Childress Women's Council.  We are thrilled to have all of these great women in Childress Women's Council.  Something new this year is the 4th of July Dog Show.  We are really excited about this.  We've enjoyed and benefitted from several interesting and informative programs and are looking forward to more.   Ladies, come and join us for our meetings on the third Tuesday of each month.  We look forward to seeing you!

 

 

We are having a great year!  Many of our projects are already underway and others are currently in the planning process.  We have many exciting things going on and in the works.  We'd love to have your input and ideas.  If you have suggestions for the Garden Tour, Tour of Homes, Beautiful Yards, Busines Woman of the Year, ways to promote Childress businesses, ideas for how to beautify Childress, etc. we want to hear from you.  Please contact us at childresswc@yahoo.com
